What noise can I expect from the heat pump?

In January 2012, Mitsubishi Electric’s range of Ecodan air source heat pumps received the Quiet Mark from the Noise Abatement Society. “Ecodan heating systems are the first air source heat pumps to receive the official backing of the Noise Abatement Society which has awarded a new ‘Quiet Mark’ of approval.” The Quiet Mark is a new badge of approval awarded by the Noise Abatement Society to manufacturers of the quietest products currently available, and is validated by the Association of Noise Consultants. Products awarded a Quiet Mark will feature in the on-line directory at www.quietmark.com.

What is an EPC?

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) dated within the last 2 years will be required for your property in order to claim back RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive). If your property doesn’t have an EPC, Collective Green Energy (Yorkshire) will arrange for one to be carried out. You need a valid EPC dated within the last 10 years to apply for the BUS scheme.

What does COP mean?

The Co-efficient of Performance (COP) of a heatpump is the amount of useful energy delivered by the heat pump divided by the energy it consumes.

Heat Calculations using the official Mitsubishi Ecodan Selection Software will be carried out on your property in order to determine which unit will be best suited to run your house as efficiently as possible.

Will Ecodan work when it's cold outside?

Even when temperatures drop well below zero there is still plenty of energy in the air for Ecodan to operate. Depending on which Ecodan model you choose they will operate down to temperature as low as -25ºC.

The Ecodan system is designed to operate at the optimum efficiency level at any time of year. Its technology will automatically regulate the system so that it never uses more energy than needed at any given time, making it one of the most energy efficient ways to heat a home and provide hot water.

Will the water at my outlets (taps) still be warm enough?

There is no noticeable difference in the supply of hot water – Ecodan can supply water up to 60ºC.

What difference will the owner experience if they use Ecodan instead of a traditional boiler?

You will experience a gentler more consistent heat within the room. Not like the pulses of high temperature we currently experience having oversized radiators and boilers. The central and radiator controls work in exactly the same way.
